Just wondering what time of year is best to walk the Camino?

The best time of the year is generally just before and just after summer. It can get unbearably hot in the peak season as well as overcrowded. If one is thinking of walking in the summer the Portuguese route is definitely preferable, I think, as it has just one tenth of the number of people on it.
